Heesoo Choi (She/Her)
Heesoo Choi is a Specialized Honours Psychology student at York University. Grateful for the opportunities and mentorship she’s received, Heesoo has actively contributed to research labs at York. She is deeply committed to supporting youth and families affected by neurodivergence or neurological conditions and aims to acquire effective treatment strategies to better support those in need. Heesoo’s future goals include working with vulnerable children, adolescents, and young women who lack strong family or social support, using a culturally sensitive approach that respects each individual’s unique background and experiences.
In her earlier experiences, Heesoo volunteered in South Korea, building meaningful, one-on-one relationships with children with intellectual disabilities. These experiences taught her that giving love can also be a way of receiving it. Currently, she serves as a crisis responder with Kids Help Phone, further deepening her commitment to supporting young people during difficult times. At Flourish, Heesoo is a member of the psychological services team and looks forward to learning from and collaborating with members of the Flourish community.
Outside of school and volunteering, Heesoo enjoys staying active, exploring nature, binge-watching anime, and relaxing under her weighted blanket.
