Dr. Holly Echlin, C.Psych. (Supervised Practice) (She/Her)
Dr. Holly Echlin is a registered clinical psychologist under supervised practice, with additional training for working with adults and a specialization in Neuropsychology. Her graduate research focused on the associations between remote sub-concussive or mild traumatic brain injuries and indicators of accelerated brain aging. She has presented her work at national and international conferences and published several articles in scientific journals. Before joining Flourish Health Services, she gained valuable experience providing assessment and therapy services at Toronto Western Hospital’s Tourette Syndrome Neurodevelopmental Clinic, the Hematology and Oncology program at the Hospital for Sick Children, the York University Psychology Clinic (YUPC), and the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships (CFIR).
Additionally, during Holly’s recent residency at the Kingston Internship Consortium, she worked in programs such as the Dual Diagnosis Consultation Outreach Team (DDCOT), Dual Diagnosis Consulting Program (DDCP), Limestone District School Board (LDSB), and Community Brain Injury Service (CBIS). Throughout these training experiences, she worked with children, adolescents, and adults with various concerns to provide a clearer understanding of the issues they faced. She helped clients resolve family or relationship conflicts and learn to better express their emotions. She also worked with many autistic youth and adults, celebrating their neurodiversity and navigating complex social and academic challenges together.
Holly provides individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, troubled relationships, and aiding with self-growth. Her therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from trauma- and attachment-informed, client-centered principles and utilizing various modalities such as Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She adapts her approach to meet each client's unique needs, in order to create a personalized and effective experience.
Holly is passionate about understanding the emotional patterns that influence our thoughts and behaviours. Often, these patterns, which may have once been helpful, become entrenched and restrict our relationships and life choices. Understanding and addressing these patterns by developing new and adaptive strategies can lead to a more fulfilling life. To do so, Holly aims to create a warm, accepting environment where her young clients feel safe, heard, and understood.
