Rena Mitchell (She/Her)
Rena is an undergraduate student at York University, completing a degree in honours psychology and visual arts. She is very interested in the use of creativity and laughter in psychological practices - wanting to create an environment of comfort, support and understanding while incorporating strength-based and imaginative techniques. Certified in Sexuality Studies, Rena is an advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and all of its intersectional identities. She is particularly interested in the convergence of gender and neurodivergence in the queer community. Rena has experience working at summer camps for children and young adults with disabilities, volunteering with the Red Cross for elderly support services and working at psychology labs that address neurocognition and memory. Approaching care with a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed lens, Rena prioritizes the comfort and autonomy of clients, ensuring they are in control of their own process.
In her free time, you will catch her knitting, creating crafts and art, listening to music and hiking.
