Direct Instruction

Direct Instruction (DI) is an intensive academic intervention that focuses on carefully planned and structured teaching. Lessons are broken down into small, manageable steps to ensure students fully master each concept. As a result, students progress at a steady and deliberate pace.

DI is one of the most explicit and structured interventions available. Teachers use a scripted curriculum designed to target specific skills. Data is collected in every session to track progress, guide instruction, and identify any additional areas of need. DI meets children where they are and builds on their existing abilities.

Direct Instruction is not a quick fix. Programming is based on a child's skill level, not their grade level, ensuring that all students experience success from the start. The philosophy behind DI, which is shared by our teaching team, is that every child can learn when taught effectively.
