The Unstuck and On Target group is an evidence-based, 10-week, in-person group for children aged 8-12 who could benefit from coaching in the areas of flexibility, planning, and adaptability. 

The purpose of this group is to help children develop strategies they can use when feeling overwhelmed or “stuck”. While this is a group, each child receives individualized attention to ensure they walk away with the tools that work best with their unique profile. Each 1.5 hour session is dynamic and engaging. The curriculum is delivered in different ways to appeal to diverse learning styles, including kinesthetic activities, discussions, small and large group work, charts and diagrams, and presentations. Children learn a variety of things including different ways to cope with ‘big deals’ and ‘little deals’, the benefits of being open-minded and flexible and different ways to compromise. 

Program facilitators have extensive experience working with neurodiverse kids. Our approach is strengths-based, empathetic and inclusive; we model the strategies we want the group to learn. We share real life examples and experiences to help the group generalize what they are learning. We believe that the things that make us different are actually our superpowers. 

Our next group begins April 17, 2023 from 6:30-8pm. The cost of the group is $1000 (billed at $100 per session) and is listed under Psychological Services. Psychological services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) but are often partially or fully covered by extended health benefits/insurance plans. Please check with your insurer to review your specific coverage.
